A Supportive Start
Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m very practical. So when it came time to launch my own design studio, going into debt wasn’t my preferred method. With a baby on the way and a rough economy I wasn’t willing to risk my families financial security for a dream.
That’s why I decided to crowd fund with a Kickstarter campaign. Over the month of October 2016 I offered limited edition goods such as notebooks, pillow covers, placemats and more to backers. The support I received was incredible. I hadn’t previously recognized how much support I had. It was touching and incredibly encouraging.
Roland DG was the company who gave me the idea and resources to put this campaign together. They had previously sent me yards of incredible fabric, with my designs printed on them, in order to help me. It was this fabric I used to sew the rewards purchased from my backers. That’s right, I sewed my own items and they looked fabulous!
Now that I have the financial backing to start my business, my plan it so attend a trade show. Armed with my wonderful website, new connections and charming personality I hope to gain new customers. Growth and prosperity are important but I also want to enjoy this process. Not being in dept has relieved a lot of stress and made that much more possible!
